The Fun of Showing
Dogs love to be shown. It is an outing full of excitement from the moment they leave the house until they return.
Our dogs love being shown so much, they get excited as soon as they see me packing for a show. Dogs get to go tat-tars in the car, see and sniff other dogs and also get lots of attention from their owners and others while at a show. In fact, showing is an excellent way to socialise your dog for these reasons.
But there is plenty more to showing. It can be a family day or a day to catch up with people that you have met at the show before. The picture inset is a picture of us at a show. As you can see, we take along all the comforts of home.
There is a nominal fee to enter each show which must be paid in advance to the relevant show society.
As with anything, some people are very relaxed and just enjoy the outing whilst others provide a competitive spirit.
If you register your dog with the Canine Control Council of your state you will probably receive a booklet of the times, dates and costs of entering into a show near you. As we say however, the dogs love the show ring - they get to see and smell other dogs as well as go for a walk with their owner.
